Redist. Strategy: Least No. of Trips
The Redistribution Strategy Least No. of Trips is used in Store Stock Redistribution to calculate the optimal trips between store and warehouse locations to redistribute items. This strategy will select location combinations in order to minimize the number of Transfer Orders (trips).
Available Redist. Strategies are:
- Least No of Trips
- Least Cost
- Shortest Distance (Direct)
- Shortest Distance (Route)
- Shortest Duration (Route)
Calculation example
Item 10000 has redistributable stock in three locations and demand in two locations:
The Redist. Matrix has the following setup:
Note: For Redist. Strategy Least No. of Trips, calculations will not be based on the values in the Redist. Matrix. However, for a store location to be considered for trips calculation, the route must be defined in the Redist. Matrix assigned to the item in question.
Result is as below:
Referring to the example above, the Redist. Strategy Least No. of Trips will always look for supply location(s) with the highest Redist. Stock. This helps the system fulfill the demand with minimum trips involved.
Unlike other Redistribution Strategies, Least No. of Trips does not consider the values defined in the Redist. Matrix for calculation purposes. As long as a store route is defined in the Redist. Matrix assigned to the item, the system will calculate the optimal trips by selecting the supply location(s) with the highest Redist. Stock. For more information on how to set up the Redist. Matrix see How to: Set Up Redist. Matrix .
